Terms & Conditions

These terms govern your use of the apps provided byBurlea App Development (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing or using any of our apps, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the apps.

How we handle your data is covered separately in ourPrivacy & Security Policy, which forms part of these terms.

1. Your licence to use the apps

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use our apps on devices you own or control, for your own lawful business or personal purposes, in line with these terms. You may not copy, resell, sub-licence, rent or redistribute the apps, and you may not reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract their source code except to the extent the law expressly permits.

2. Accounts & eligibility

  • Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country, and (for business features) authorised to act for the business you represent.
  • Tell us promptly atinfo@burleaapps.co.uk if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the apps for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
  • submit false or misleading information, including to HMRC or other third parties, through the apps;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the apps, our systems, or another user’s data;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the apps or the services they rely on;
  • use the apps in a way that breaches the terms of any third-party service they connect to (for example HMRC, Google, Shopify or Stripe).

4. HMRC features (VAT filing & VAT checks)

Certain apps connect to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC):MyShopAdmin can file VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD) and check UK VAT numbers, and MyCompanyDueDil can check UK VAT numbers. These features are subject to HMRC’s own terms, and to the following:

You are responsible for the accuracy of your tax data.Our apps are tools to help you prepare and submit information to HMRC. They do not provide tax, accounting or legal advice. You are solely responsible for the correctness and completeness of any figures, VAT returns, or other information you review, prepare and submit to HMRC, and for meeting your own filing deadlines and legal obligations.

  • You authenticate directly with HMRC using your own Government Gateway credentials; you must be entitled to file for, or make checks on behalf of, the business concerned.
  • Before you rely on a submission, you must check the figures. A submission is made when you confirm it — we do not review, verify or amend your figures.
  • We are not responsible for any tax liability, interest, penalty, assessment or other loss arising from information you submit, from errors in your data, or from a filing you make or fail to make.
  • HMRC services may be unavailable, may change, or may reject a submission for reasons outside our control. We are not liable for HMRC downtime, rejections or changes to HMRC’s APIs.
  • A VAT-number check reflects the information HMRC returns at the time of the check; we do not guarantee its accuracy or completeness.

5. Third-party services

The apps rely on third-party services (for example Google Firebase, HMRC, Companies House, Shopify and Stripe). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their acts or omissions.

6. Availability, updates & changes

We aim to keep the apps available and reliable, but we do not guarantee they will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or discontinue features (or an entire app) from time to time. Updates may be required for the apps to keep working correctly, particularly where a third-party service such as HMRC changes its requirements.

7. Intellectual property

The apps, their design, and all related content and trade marks are owned by or licensed to Burlea App Development and are protected by law. These terms grant you a licence to use the apps; they do not transfer any ownership to you. The content and data you create in an app remains yours.

8. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the apps are provided“as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the apps will meet your requirements or be error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your statutory rights as a consumer where they cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or for any tax liability, interest or penalties arising from your use of the apps or from information you submit through them. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under law.

10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the apps at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the apps or other users. On termination, your licence to use the apps ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability) continue to apply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when they last changed. If you continue to use the apps after a change, you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
